ConsultancyCycle 2007 - 2008
Euromast, Rotterdam. Voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van de ConsultancyCycle (CC) vond deze zeven weken achtereen plaats op 100 meter hoogte. Ik heb de eer gehad om ambitieuze topstudenten én diverse topbedrijven samen te mogen brengen in een fantastische ambiance van klasse en professionaliteit. Als ik terugkijk naar die mooie maanden, staan me vreemd genoeg vooral de mistige eerste dag en de winderige (windkracht 8) zesde dag me nog helder voor de geest. En niet te vergeten de mooie fles champagne die ik van de Euromast cadeau kreeg natuurlijk! Met gepaste trots kan ik later aan mijn kleinkinderen vertellen dat ik –samen met bestuur – de organisatie van de CC breder heb weten te trekken met het aantrekken van twee nieuwe verenigingen uit Tilburg. De ConsultancyCycle mag zich dan ook vanaf 2007 met recht het grootste Strategy Consultancy evenement van Nederland noemen!

The ConsultancyCycle Experience

The ConsultancyCycle for me is ceasing the opportunity to meet an array of different leading consulting firms. What makes this event such a success is the enthusiasm with which the consultants, partners, juniors and associates of the consulting firms and students from diverse universities participate. An effort is put from both sides to make the day as enjoyable and interesting as possible. I have met consultants flying in from the U.K. (L.E.K), students coming from the Twente having traveled several hours by train, and dedicated juniors putting the effort driving from Brussels just for the drink at the end of the day’s event.
Participating in many business courses and events does indeed help you to decide which firm will be most suitable for you in your near future. Despite this, no business course will help you make a better comparison between consultants than participating in the ConsultancyCycle does. Although EUREOS, in cooperation with study associations S.V.T.B. Curius and Econometrisch Dispuut, offers them a fix program which includes the beautiful location of the Euromast, an introductory talk in the morning, and lunch and a case in the afternoon, every consultant is free to organize the program as it wishes. Every week another consulting firm becomes more to you than just its famous name. Differences become apparent while meeting the people, the company culture, and way of working, but for me in particular, the originality with which they fill in their day during the Cycle. For me a day in the Euromast is never a day wasted, as I had the chance to meet several potential employers, practice cases, have fun, meet interesting people, make new contacts, enjoy lunch and a drink over a good talk and if boredom could ever come to you during this event… than just enjoy the beautiful view of Rotterdam!
